Part 5: Auditing
Failing to maintain effective vehicle safety practices, policies, and procedures may hide risks and can result in a hefty price tag for auto manufacturers. Major OEMs have lost billions of dollars by failing to address safety risks, resulting in settlements with the U.S. Department of Justice and class action litigation. In the last three years, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) alone collected over $250 million in penalties. In today’s world of real time data, OEMs need to ask themselves -- how effective is our safety office at detecting safety issues in the field? Are we up to date with technology to aid in this detection? Is our staff adequately equipped and properly trained to identify and act quickly to make decisions on safety matters? Do we have adequate controls in place?
What We Can Do
Our approach is simple. We work to investigate the current state of a vehicle safety program, evaluate its effectiveness, and then advise on opportunities for improvement.
Who Can Benefit?
Any company looking to improve themselves within their industry.
